HIKMAT CHINESE DANCE GROUP
A Chinese Community Dance Group bringing the tradition of China to Exeter, dynamic and vibrant colourful with a unique touch of Chinese cultural flavour.
FIRESTONE
Firestone is an Appalachian dance group (a mix between Appalachian clogging, tap, Irish and American folk) who meet on a Wednesday evening at the Newtown Hut in Belmont Park who welcome any and all new faces to our class.
ILARIA BELLY DANCE
Ilaria Belly Dance and Shema Raqs are based in Exeter and Taunton. They offer very low impact fitness dance. Belly dance will bring joy into your lives and once you get into it, you’ll just love it! This year they will bring a mixture of classical and folkloric styles on Respect Festival’s stage. They can’t wait to see you all and dance together!
KULU
The trio Kulu always surprise and delight with their truly eclectic mix of music. Never wanting to be fixed to any genre they trawl the world for ideas and influences. Indeed, the name Kulu comes from the Arabic and means everything: nothing is ruled out.
From Africa to Eastern Europe, from the Middle East to the more familiar British and Irish folk traditions, and maybe a little reggae along the way: expect variety with their moving musical feast.
Kulu are: Christine Cottam, violin; Paul Johnston, bass guitar; Seán Goddard, percussion, guitar and vocals.

Get Changed Theatre Company produce high quality arts projects that raise the profile of the disability arts community through vibrant, creative professional performances. FILIPINO COMMUNITY DANCE ASSOCIATION
A community group who enjoy singing and mainly sing at their Catholic Church in Exeter. They enjoy Exeter Respect Festival every year and come to perform their traditional Filipino
lyrics and voice.
KARINA GRACIA DANCE FLAMENCO & BOLLYWOOD
Graceful bodywork and powerful footwork combine in this passionate dance from Southern Spain, accompanied by live guitar. Karina trained in Spain and the UK and along with performances, offers weekly classes in the South West including at Exeter Phoenix.
CHHAYA YOUTH DANCE
Chhaya Youth Dance Company provides an excellent opportunity for young dancers, aged 12 to 21 years, to develop their technical, creative and performance skills. The company strives to offer dancers an insight into the multidisciplinary, intercultural and diverse ways of working as a professional dance artist. The classes are primarily contemporary based, but weave influences from Bharatanatyam, Kalaripayattu, African Forms, Social dances and Contact Partnering.
STREET BAND
A community band who play an eclectic array of jazz, blues, folk and world music at festivals, parties, weddings and community events.
SING AND SING JUKEBOX CHOIR
Sing and Sign Jukebox choir is an all-age inclusive singing and Makaton signing choir made up of carers and people with communication difficulties. They make a beautiful sound with their brilliant soloists and fab choir leader Joanne Rogers, and have a lively set of well-loved iconic pop songs, all set to Makaton signs. They love to get the audience up on their feet signing, singing and dancing along and want to spread a bit of awareness of the Makaton signing system which allows non-verbal people with learning disabilities to communicate and fully participate in events like Exeter Respect.

EXETER MUSICAL THEATRE CHOIR
A new and dynamic singing ensemble for local people, the choir are a part of The Sing Space who run choirs providing professional voice training and opportunities without auditions. Open to all with a focus on community, showtunes, harmonies and technique, they have supported Gareth Malone.
MAJIDAH TRIBAL BELLY DANCE
A colourful dance troupe based in Exeter and surrounding areas. Their style is a fusion of steps inspired by Middle Eastern, North African, Indian and Flamenco dance performed as a free-flowing group improvisation.
WREN MUSIC
Okehampton based charity Wren Music helps people from all backgrounds and all levels of experience to make music together, all across Devon. At this year’s Respect Festival they will present a joint performance from their youth group the Devon Youth Folk Ensemble, and their men’s choir MenSing. Find out more at wrenmusic.co.uk
NEWTOWN ROOTS BAND
A community band that makes a big joyous sound playing a variety of folk tunes from around the world with exciting arrangements, energy and fun. All acoustic instruments/all abilities/all ages play in this friendly group. They regularly perform at community events and festivals including Sidmouth Folk Festival, Newtown Community events and of course Respect Festival.

PERFORMANCES BY HONGKONGERS IN DEVON 14:50
Hongkongers in Devon CIC is a community group set up in late 2020 with the aim of facilitating the integration of Hongkongers who want to migrate to Exeter under the British National Overseas visa program.
They will be presenting a K-pop dance by EXEstar, who consist of Joanne, Ingrid, Sonia, Lois, Luke, Victoria and Suhannah.
A magic show by Mr T a very passionate magician who will show amazing magic to entertain the audience.
And Eunice who will be singing some Cantonese songs.
MAX KROGER SHINE MUSIC DEVON 15:30
Max is a multi instrumentalist from Shine Music Devon with experience of the piano, saxophone, drums and beat boxing. Max has worked hard over the years to find his own sound, putting his own take on his favourite covers of popular songs on the piano. Expect emotional chords with striped back moody melodies to create a unique feel to piano and performance. Max always plays with feeling and from the heart.
D’ACCORD FRENCH AND BRETON MUSIC AND DANCE IN EXETER
d’Accord! is a French & Breton dance and music group in Exeter who meet monthly, usually on the second Saturday of the month, at St James’ Church Hall, Exeter, EX4 7AH. They dance to live music, dances are taught and no partner is needed. Everyone is welcome.
THE BOLLYGALS
This Devon/Somerset-based dance troupe demonstrates the vibrancy, fun and emotion of some of
the Bollywood movie industry’s best-loved musical numbers. Their dances encapsulate the drama, humour and high energy that Bollywood is renowned for. The Bollygals have been sharing their passion for Indian dancing for over ten years through performances and workshops at festivals and private events throughout the South West.
GLOBAL HARMONY
A mixed community choir based at Exeter Phoenix will sing songs of celebration and protest from around the world in glorious harmony . From Africa, the Middle East or pop favourites the choir bring an eclectic and diverse repertoire to the stage.
